托福写作语法详解——副词性从句

如标题所示，又到了我们讲解托福语法的时候了，今天准备为大家讲解的托福语法内容是副词性从句，副词性从句是在句中起副词作用的主谓结构，它可以修饰主句中的动词、形容词、副词和整个主句。

（1）修饰动词

示例

他让我待在原地。

He asked me to stay.

He asked me to stay where I was.

I’ll go wherever the people needs me.

（2）修饰形容词和副词

示例

2002年的第一场雪，比平常来得更晚一些。

The first snow came later than it ever did before in 2002.

She has made greater progress than we expected.

（3）修饰整个主句

示例

无论他人怎么说，乔治都坚持己见。

No matter what the others may say，George sticks to his opinion.

什么时候使用副词性从句？

（1）表时间的副词性从句

示例

Some people tend to eat a lot when they feel stressed out.

Since I graduated from high school，I have missed my school uniform.

He did not realize his mistake until others pointed it out.

无论何时我们遇到困难，他们都会来帮助我们。

Whenever we met with difficulties，they came to help us.

她一听到消息就大声哭起来。

She wept aloud as soon as she heared the news.

（2）表地点的副词性从句

示例

他无论去哪，她都跟随着他。

She follows him wherever he goes.

有志者事竟成。

Where there is a will，there is a way.

（3）表原因的副词性从句

示例

I want to get a high-paying job because I should support my family.

Since the young dinosaur could not survive on their own，the adult dinosaurs would not leave them behind.

（4）表目的的副词性从句

示例 

Ships carry lifeboats so that the crew can escape if the ship sinks.

These men risk their lives in order that we may live more safely.

（5）表结果的副词性从句

consequently，therefore，thus，so

示例

Old Tang’s geese are very aggressive，consequently，none of the students dare to come close to the school garden.

（6）表结果程度的副词性从句

so/such…that

示例

The snow fell so fast that our footsteps were soon covered.

Global warming is such a serious problem that some islandersworry that their islands might sink.

（7）表让步的副词性从句

whereas/while/despite the fact that/although/though/even if

示例

Though it may be difficult to imagine from a later perspective，a strain of critical opinion in the 1920s predicted that sound film would be a technical novelty that would soon fade from sight.

（8）表条件的副词性从句

示例

If you don’t want to lose the job，you should be punctual.

As long as you are healthy，you can do anything.

（9）表对比/相似的副词性从句

just as/in the same way that

示例

I miss you，just as I miss the green shade in the blazing sun.

In the same way that a child must be able to move his arms and legs before he can learn to walk，the child must physically be able to produce and experiment particular feelings before these feelings can be modified through learning.
