如何快速读懂SAT长难句？

   我们想要理解一个长难句，首先要分析长难句的结构特点。当中国考生在备考SAT的过程中遇到比较难的长难句的时候，通常存在以下三个层次：结构层次、语义逻辑层次以及修辞层次的问题。今天我们教大家从这三个层次来理解SAT阅读中的长难句，一起来看看吧~~
 
例1

分析
For the truth was（“真实的情况是这样子的”）, as（状语成分） Mulcahy had to acknowledge（“这个人必须承认”）, pacing up and down his small office（“在他的小的办公室中走来走去”）（此处是分词状语）, that（that引导表语从句，视频是truth有同位语，truth真正的事实具体的内容在that后面出现） in spite of all the evidence（让步状语） he had been given of the president's unremitting hatred（“校长对他怀恨已久”），he found himself hurt by the letter （“但是他还是发现他被这封信伤到了”）—（破折号引出解释被伤害的方面内容） wounded, to be honest, not only in his self-esteem（“不仅仅伤害了他的自尊”） but（并列结构not only...but also, also可以省略掉） in some tenderer place（“在较为柔软的地方”），in that sense of contract（“从某种意义上讲是一种contract，” contract这个单词普遍理解为“合同”，但此处理解为“约定”）between people that transcends personal animosities and factional differences（“超越个人的仇恨以及派系差异的人与人之间的约定”，换言之，人与人之间应该求同存异）, that holds the individual distinct from the deed（individual理解为“人”deed理解为“事情”，该句意为“把人与他所作的事情区别对待”，中国俗语表示是“对事不对人”） and maintains even in the fieriest （even in the fieriest 为插入状语）opposition the dream of final agreement and concord（“并且即便是面临最强烈的反对也要维持一种理想主义的想法”换言之，人与人之间要和谐一致，要求同存异）。
 
以上就是对整段话理解，串联起来如下: 真实的情况是，Mulcahy必须承认，伴随着他在办公室走来走去，事实是尽管各种证据表明校长对他怀恨已久，他还是发现自己被这封信伤到了，那么诚实地讲，他伤到的不仅仅是自尊，还有内心深处较为柔软的地方（可以理解为他的价值观），那么在这种意义上讲，它指的是人与人之间的约定，这些约定认为人要超越个人仇恨和派系差异，并且认为人与人对事不对人，即便是面临最强的反对的情况之下，也要维护一种梦想，人与人之间应该和谐一致。

分析 
I am no Tom Keating（我并不是TK这个人）, aging （状语修饰TK）a picture with a spoonful of instant coffee（用速溶咖啡去把一幅画变得非常老旧，非常显得古色古香）, spraying on fly specks with a mixture of asphalt and turpentine（并且在画板画布上撇上一些油和沥青，这种感觉看起来非常古色古香）， pretending to have come upon an unknown Old Master in a junk shop or attic（假装自己在阁楼上或者那些古玩店遇到了沧海一粟的杰作）。
 
在整体分析理解结束之后，我们可以发现除了描述Tom Keating使一幅画变得古色古香作假之外，这句话还做了取非否定，I am no Tom Keating我不是这种人，言外之意是对Tom Keating做了讽刺。不仅这句话本身理解很难，而且还运用了修辞手法为irony讽刺，这就是理解一句话当中修辞层面。
